Just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.
2 Corinthians 1:5
Here is something very important that we must realize: Christ never allows abundant sufferings without providing abundant comfort.
It is so easy for me to accept and expect the abundant comfort that Your Word promises me, Lord, but I find it difficult to accept (and certainly to expect) the abundant sufferings. . . .
But then, if I were to practice walking in Your abundant comfort all the time, I wouldn’t be caught short when the sufferings start knocking on my door. (Or do they knock? Generally it seems they just open the door and walk in unannounced.)
Can I separate one from the other? It seems to me that I won’t fully appreciate Your comfort until I’ve gone through the suffering. The question I must answer is this:
Just how important is it to me
that I experience Your abundant comfort?
